Monster Big Bikes For 2011

2011 Ducati 848 EVO
848EVO: Excitement
EVOA 140 hp Testastretta engine, steering dampers and the new monobloc brakes mean that with the 848EVO even more exhilarating performance is guaranteed. 848EVO - the most exciting way to enter the world Ducati Superbikes.
The 2011 848EVO now further enhances Ducati's most impressive lightweight Superbike ever with more power from the Testastretta engine and more braking power from Brembo’s incredible Monobloc brake technology combining to provide an even more exciting way to enter the world of Ducati Superbikes.
The “EVO” treatment applied to the 848 introduces a 6hp power boost to 140hp (103kW) and a torque increase to 72.3lb-ft (98Nm) that results in a razor-sharp and easy-to-use power delivery while the combination of the 848's legendary (168kg) chassis set-up and planet-stopping Brembo Monobloc brakes gives unthinkable braking performances most can only dream of.

In pursuit of perfection, Ducati engineers have listened to passionate owners of the 848 Superbike since its delivery in 2008 and now enhance its specifications to deliver impressive performances whether riding through mid-town traffic or racing through track-day competition.

Iconic features from the World Championship-winning machines, such as the twin under-seat silencers, single-sided swingarm, Trellis frame, beautiful race bodywork and steering damper, are all part of the 848EVO's DNA. Its family resemblance assures that it is equipped with all the performance advancements of the Superbike family, while adding its own particular character and style.

The 848EVO maintains the traditional colour of Ducati red with red frame and black wheels and introduces the stunning new schemes of arctic white silk with red frame and red wheels and “dark stealth” with racing black frame and black wheels.

The 848 Testastretta Evoluzione engine

The new 848EVO is powered by a liquid cooled, L-Twin, Desmodromic engine that produces 140hp (103kW) @ 10,500rpm and a high-accelerating 72.3lb-ft (10kgm) of torque @ 9,750rpm.
The 94mm x 61.2mm bore and stroke breathes through 4 valves per cylinder fed by totally revised inlet port shapes and racing-style elliptical throttle bodies, which are now increased in size from an equivalent diameter of 56mm to 60mm.

A brand new piston crown and combustion chamber shape improve burn efficiency and increase the
compression ratio from 12:1 to a power-enhancing 13.2:1 while new performance-driven camshafts provide 13mm of valve-lift compared with 11.5mm and an inlet duration increase from 253° to 257°.
These incredible valve performances are made possible because of Ducati's unique Desmodromic system, where valve closure is activated mechanically. At high rpm it would be almost impossible for the valve to follow the steep closure profile of the cam lobe if it were relying upon a normal valve spring. With the Desmo system, the valve is closed mechanically with the same accuracy as it is opened, enabling steep cam profiles and radical cam timings. This system is used on every single Ducati motorcycle including their world-beating Superbike and Desmosedici MotoGP bikes.

Electronically injected and ignited by Marelli, the super-efficient power unit then exhausts through a
lightweight 2-1-2 system equipped with a catalytic converter and up-rated to twin lambda probes for
smooth mapping and Euro3 conformity. Terminating in Ducati's trademark twin under-seat silencers, the system delivers that unmistakable signature sound of the Desmo 90° L-Twin.

The highly advanced 848 engine was the first Ducati Superbike to introduce vacuum die-cast crankcases, formed using Vacural® technology, a process that achieves a significant weight saving and ensures consistent wall thickness and increased strength. For 2011 this impressively lightweight engine has its outer-cases finished in black.

The 848EVO engine is a fitting reward to Ducati's ingenuity and a clear result of the continual attention to detail and development of their twin-cylinder technology.

Having more experience and success with twin-cylinder high performance engines than any other
manufacturer, the L-Twin configuration remains central to Ducati's philosophy of motorcycling. This
experience, plus constant investment in quality by design, advanced materials and engineering techniques, has enabled 7,500 miles (12,000 kilometres) between service intervals, making Ducati ownership easy and enjoyable.

• 2011 Ducati Monster 1100

In search of the perfect corner
The ‘less-is-more’ philosophy that made the Monster a motorcycling icon is now further enhanced to redefine your naked expectations. Less weight plus more torque equals fun-filled riding.
Ideal for riders who want to make the ultimate lifestyle expression, this jewel of style and performance is powered by the charismatic two-valve 1100cc Desmodromic twin-cylinder engine, famous the world over for its legendary torque and smooth acceleration. For 2011, the Monster 1100 is updated with a new subframe ready to accept the passenger-friendly grab-rail accessory created by Ducati Performance and is available also in an enhanced ‘S’ specification, both versions with optional ABS.

The ‘less-is-more’ philosophy behind all Monsters underlines Ducati’s continuous pursuit of genuinely
compact, high performance motorcycles and with the Monster 1100’s dry weight at 373lb (169kg) it
represents the lightest bike in its category.
Today’s Monster family is the result of constant evolution in design and technology. The powerful and
breathtaking top-of-the-range models sport attractive ergonomics and present pure style and charisma, while preserving the essence of the original naked bike concept. The Monster 1100 design perfectly balances sports performance, riding pleasure and stunning looks and its seductive line is the product of a Ducati philosophy where form and function combine to create the naked bike par excellence.

Pure riding pleasure is guaranteed with super-light and agile handling characteristics combined with the
exceptional torque of the Desmo engine and a competition-level braking system.

1100 chassis

At just 169kg (373lb), the Monster 1100 is the lightest bike in its class. The exceptional handling, combined with 10.5kgm (75.9lb-ft) of torque from the Ducati Desmo engine, results in a pure, adrenalin-filled ride.
With a 40mm higher ride-height than the 696, the increased ground clearance of the Monster 1100 enables impressive lean angles, to fully reveal the sports side of this naked bike. The extremely lightweight aluminium alloy Y-shaped, 5-spoke wheels reduce unsprung weight and improve agility and are fitted with a 120/70ZR tyre at the front and a 180/55ZR at the rear, both Pirelli Diablo Rosso. The result is lightweight, precise steering that is extremely responsive at all speeds while giving the  exceptional stability. The sports character of the bike is further accentuated by aluminium tapered handlebars.
The 43mm fully adjustable Showa forks and Sachs rising-rate rear suspension unit, with adjustable spring pre-load and return damping, offer sufficient personalisation to suit all riding styles and provide that perfect ‘feel’. The steeply angled rear unit compresses in a movement non-linear to the rear swingarm radius, which achieves progressive characteristics, enables easy access to the spring pre-load and rebound damping adjuster, and eliminates the weight of any rocker-arm mechanism.

The Trellis frame, developed in conjunction with Ducati Corse uses the same tube diameter and thickness as the 1198 SP. The brand new lightweight aluminium sub-frame maintains visual continuity with the aluminium footrest hangers and swingarm, and now accepts the passenger-friendly grab-rail kit available from Ducati Performance. The kit further enhances passenger ride comfort without compromising the Monster’s stylish lines.

Maximum control braking

The power of the Monster 1100 can rely upon a best-in-category braking system that provides excellent, precise and controllable braking performance. The impressive Brembo system features radial pumps with adjustable levers feeding four-piston radial callipers which grip twin 320mm discs. The rear brake uses a 2- piston calliper operating on a 245mm disc. An optional ABS system is also available to add extra confidence in all conditions.

Single-sided swingarm

The beautifully shaped single-sided swingarm gives the Monster a ‘pure sports’ look while ensuring higher rigidity, reduced weight and enhanced road holding. The swingarm is in chill-cast aluminium and achieves the best mechanical characteristics while reducing final weight for improved handling.

Desmodromic charisma

The Monster 1100 power unit is the legendary 1100cc, air-cooled, Dual Spark L-Twin engine whose 95hp gives it that unmistakable Ducati sound. Developed for an incredibly flexible power delivery, the 1100 Desmodromic engine provides the rider with enough torque to exit the most challenging of corners in pure sports style. The impressive 10.5kgm (75.9lb-ft) of torque, typical of the Ducati L-Twin engines, excites with every twist of the throttle.

The two-valve engine on the Monster 1100 features lightweight crankcases produced using the same
innovative Vacural® technology that Ducati first introduced on the Superbike 848 and achieves significant weight  while ensuring consistent wall thickness and increased strength.

The 1100 engine boasts a 98mm bore and a 71.5mm stroke, delivering 95hp at 7500rpm and an impressive torque of 10.5kgm (79.5lb-ft) at 6000rpm. To underline the sports character of the bike, the new Monster 1100 is fitted with Ducati’s very own dry clutch, which offers a variety of customisation options with the Ducati Performance accessories.

The Monster 1100 has a specially designed exhaust system featuring an electronically controlled exhaust valve that enables the use of silencers similar to those of the 696. The system has one lambda probe dedicated to each cylinder, enabling precise fuelling for a smoother power delivery while complying with current emission regulations.

1100 colours

The Monster 1100 is available in three colour schemes of red or silver with red Trellis frame or
black with matte black frame. All three colours are set against elegant looking silver wheels. The
1100 can be further personalised from a choice of ten additional colour schemes available within
the innovative Monster Art program.

2011 Kawasaki Z1000

Kawasaki Z1000 Overview
An all new model Kawasaki Z1000 has been introduced for 2010 / 2011. This bike has been so well recieved by the press - they love it !!
When we say "All New" we mean it. A new engine, a new chassis, the list goes on..............
The new and improved Kawasaki Z1000 for 2011 takes aggressive styling a huge leap forward from its predecessor. From the sharply designed front headlight design made possible by the new slim line-beam headlamp, to the sharp lines of the tail section, the new Kawasaki Z1000 presents a very clean-cut line image. The stylish front fork covers and wide boy shrouds showing the intakes for the new Cool Air system reinforce this superb “new look”.
The all-new aluminium twin-tube frame was designed for the 2010 Kawasaki Z1000. The new aluminium twin-tube frame is very similar in concept to the Kawasaki ZX-10R Ninja; the frame tubes go over the engine, allowing the bike to have a narrow overall construction that then makes the bike easy to grip with your knees for added control.
The Liquid-cooled, DOHC, 16-valve 1,043 cm3 In-line four offers a greater power delivery and stronger torque curve than the previous models of the Kawasaki Z1000.
The new 5-spoke cast wheels complement the Kawasaki Z1000 ’s sharp design. The spokes are machined near the rim edge, adding to the high-quality appearance. The machined cutouts were purposely designed to point in the reverse direction, a design element also visible on the new engine covers.
The Cool Air system allows a lot of cool air to the air box from the new exposed air ducts either side of the fuel tank, minimising performance loss due to heated intake air. This should not be confused with Ram Air, where force-fed air becomes pressurised in the air box. Positioning the air-ducts up close and personal to the rider, allows the intake sound to be enjoyed to the max by you as you ride this new Z1000.
With the addition of the new compression damping adjustability for the 2010 Kawasaki Z1000, the bikes’ 41 mm inverted front forks can now be fully adjusted. The vast array of settings offers both a sports and comfortable feeling as you ride of into the sunset.
The new position of the rear suspension places the shock unit and linkage above the swingarm. This locates the suspension well away from the exhaust so any heat will not affect the shock operation. The new arrangement contributes to mass centralisation. Visible from the outside, the Horizontal Back-link helps the cutting edge look and styling of the all-new Kawasaki Z1000. The new rear suspension eliminates the external reservoir tank, however performance is the same if not better than that of the previous models of the Z1000.
The fully digital clock features an eye-catching orange lens. The clocks can be tilted to suit your height and preference. You can choose from three different positions. The angle can very easily be changed without any tools needed via an adjusting knob on the left side. The meter functions include digital speedometer, bar-style digital tachometer, odometer, two trip meters, fuel gauge, and clock.
At the front they have 4-piston radial-mount callipers to grip the Kawasaki Z1000 ’s new 300 mm petal brake discs. Radial-pump front brake master cylinders also contribute to the superb control and feel offered by the new callipers. The rear brake features a single piston calliper gripping onto a 250 mm petal disc.
The twin outlet mufflers on both sides maintain a key design element from previous models. The stubbier GP style exhaust design (each 2/3 the volume of the 09MY model) allows the new 5-spoke rear wheel silhouette to be seen.
LED taillight design gives of a hi visible shine to other road users. Keeping this design is reminiscent of the original Kawasaki Z1000’s features.
